I stumbled across this photo with a friend of mine this week and her initial reaction was oh my goodness I didn’t realize how big you got when you were pregnant. She didn’t mean it in a negative way, it was just her first thought and she just happened to say it out loud... and while most people might be offended, I was fascinated by my thought when I saw this photo. Because I could have easily had those same thoughts. And I could have been horrified by my own photo. ...But my first thought was I’m so proud of my body. I’m so proud I was able to go through this experience and all my organs supported me. I was equally as proud that I wasn’t one of those women where the weight just fell right off. I actually had to work for it, and I did. Every. Last. Pound. But even if I hadn’t lost the weight, I would still be proud. You have permission to think whatever it is you want about yourself. Nobody can tell you what to think about yourself. So why not choose AMAZING thoughts about yourself? How often are you telling yourself you’re not enough, you’re not doing enough, if only you were _______. Spend some time thinking about your thoughts about yourself, and ask yourself if those are the thoughts you want to choose about yourself intentionally. What you are looking at in this photo is actually an implant tooth! You can see in the top photo, the restoration in place is very dark, wide, short, and catches your eye. A beautiful smile should stand out and disappear all at the same time. When there’s too much attention on one tooth the way this patient presented to me, it draws attention away from the eyes and the face and directly to the one tooth that stands out. You can see that in the after photo, her implant ...crowns looks very natural and blends in nicely with the rest of her teeth. It’s hard enough to make one front porcelain crown match every other tooth in the mouth, it’s a whole different set of complications when you need to get an implant crown to match every other natural tooth in the mouth. I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is next week. I’ve never been huge on V-Day but now that I have a daughter, it’s fun to celebrate any holiday any chance we get. Are you there yet? Where are you? was a phone call I was getting every 30 minutes while on the road.... On my way to see Napoleon for the first time. I still remember the day I picked him up. I drove in hail to San Diego (it rarely even rains here let alone hail) with one of my closest friends (@glamoptometrist) to see him in person. What normally takes an hour took 4 hours because the weather and traffic were so bad. Every 30 minutes my friend and I got phone calls fro...m our worried friends and family. Even the breeder called and was worried! HAHA. When we got there, I picked him up, drove him home, and gave him his first bath and my life changed forever. He started off as my little fur baby that I thought was just the cutest 2 pound ball of fluff and he quickly turned into my best friend. He’s been there for me through thick and thin. On every hard day he’s sat by me and made me feel I’m not alone. On the happy days he has celebrated with me. And I truly believe in that saying that whoever thinks diamonds are a girls best friend never had a dog. I love you my sweet boy. See more
