Happy hump day everybody So, after the Government's decision to change the severity status from 4 to 3, we are now able to carry out stage 2 in our practice reopening after carrying out stage 1 for the last two weeks. We have been working very hard behind the scenes to get everything ready for us to abide by the guidelines issued so this means that from Monday 29th June we can now carry out some routine treatments. We are still unable to carry out any treatments that requir...e using our water producing handpieces (fillings, crown preps, etc.). We will still have a locked door policy, meaning only patients with booked appointments will be allowed in, patients will be contacted who have exam/hyg appointments booked. Anyone still shielding will have their appointment deferred. We will need to still change some patients appointments due to the social distancing safety measures we have introduced. We will still be prioritising any emergencies. We can only apologise to everyone who had their appointment changed or cancelled. We thank you all for your patience and understanding, keep well and safe and hope to see you soon. See more

Hello everyone. We can't tell you how excited we were when we found out that we had been given an opening date . Unfortunately at that time we were unaware of the many changes that would have to be implemented prior to us opening safely. The guidance we were waiting for (68 & 61 pages respectively) was released by our governing bodies on Mon & Weds of last week. . These have outlined the way practices are able to operate from tomorrow & for some time to come. ...We have been working hard all week behind the scenes trying to put in place the many changes needed in the practice, the policies and protocols and the extra staff training that is required from the guidance. We will have to allow extra time for cleaning the surgeries between patients thus meaning we will have to see less patients per day. We will also have to allow extra time for changing our required PPE. Our aims over our many years of practicing has always and will always be the safety and welfare of our staff and patients. With all this in mind we are planning to reopen the practice from 9th June but this will be for face to face emergencies only as we are still unable to carry out routine treatment at this time. Our reception will be manned from Mon every day 9-1 for emergency bookings. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time and will keep updating you as we move forward towards providing routine treatments again. Much love to you all. Keep well and stay safe. Just a little bit of light relief on a Saturday morning after feeling a little frazzled with Thursday's announcement. Hope you all enjoy.

Hello everyone. Great news! You may be aware that in the Coronavirus update broadcast last night, dentists will be able to reopen their practices for face to face treatments on 8th June subject to having the correct PPE and infection control measures in place to ensure the safety of all staff and patients. What wasn't disclosed to you was what treatments dentists would be able to carry out in these early days. We are still awaiting the final guidelines from NHS England, our... Office of Chief Dental Officer, GDC, and Denplan which we hope will be issued promptly to enable us to start finalising plans for us to reopen as there will be a lot of work to do in order for us to be ready to provide the range of services listed below in an effective and safe manner. Please bear with us whilst we are trying to accommodate all the information that will be coming through. We have been informed dentists will be able to provide face to face emergency care and routine appointments which do not require the use of our fast handpieces (aerosol generating). This means that we can see you for your regular checkups and Claire can carry out hand scales and OHI treatments, but we are still unable to provide fillings or cosmetic preparations (crowns, bridges, etc) at this time, but we hope for not too much longer. We will continue to keep you up to date with any and all information on how the practice will implement the new guidelines and regulations received by us. May we take this opportunity to sincerely thank you all for your continued support.

Hello everyone. We hope that you & your families are keeping well and staying safe. After the recent updates on Sun/Mon from the Government and Dental bodies, we are still only able to carry on with emergency services at the moment. We know that the powers that be are working very hard to issue directives for us to be able to resume our normal service to ensure the safety of all our staff, patients and visitors to our practice and we are avidly keeping aware of each and eve...ry notification of the situation. We'd like to thank you all for your patience and understanding during this time. We are missing each and everyone of our wonderful patients. We miss our daily chats, finding out your travel plans , big birthday celebrations , weddings , anniversaries, new babies , etc. We are thinking of you. We are still operating our emergency service for all our registered patients. This service not only gives you access when you have an emergency but can also give you advice on any dental issues. You can also contact us by email for advice on [email protected] Please stay safe and we hope to see you real soon. Love from us all at Eastgate Dental Surgery. See more

Just saw this and thought how fantastic. Hope you all agree. Keep up with your toothbrushing and oral health regime.

Hello all. We hope that you are all keeping safe and staying well during these uncertain times. Just to remind you all we are still operating a emergency only service for all our patients. If you do need to access the service, please do not hesitate to contact us on our usual telephone number. We are unable to take any calls for routine appointments as all our staff are at home with their families. The updates we have been receiving have not changed drastically since 25th March other than we are required to risk assess any patients requiring emergency dental treatment. We want you to know we are thinking of you all and are looking forward to seeing you all when it is safe to do so. Take care all.

Good morning all. This weekend we have been monitoring the situation for dental practices and are sorry to say we are now in the process of suspending all routine dental treatments for our patients and are only able to offer an emergency service in line with the Governments and our own British Dental Associations guidelines. We understand that this is a worrying and frustrating time for everyone but please be assured we are here if you need us. We will be manning the telephon...es to triage emergencies and offer advice to any of our patients who may need it. If you are attending for an emergency appointment we are operating on a reduced staff rota and will only allow patients in on a one in, one out policy to enable social distancing for the safety of ourselves and our lovely patients. Please make sure that you don't arrive too early or too late for these emergency appointments. If we could ask you all to pass this message on to any of your family members or friends who are registered with us and not aware of our facebook page we would be most grateful. Please stay safe and well and we will see you when we come out the other side. See more

Good afternoon all. Once again we are receiving information with regards the treatments we are able to offer our patients during these trying times. We know that these are changing on a regular basis but would like to keep all our patients in the loop and pass on all relevant info as we get it. We are now only able to offer routine treatment to patients who are not in any of the "at risk" categories. We are in the process of contacting all patients that fall into the "at risk..." categories to cancel their appointments and to reschedule them. We are still only offering a hand scale service with Claire (our hygienist) with no polishing also being carried out at this time. Filling appointments or any treatment requiring the use of our high speed drill are being cancelled and will be rescheduled once we are operating a normal service. All patients will be screened during their reminder calls to see if they or a family member is having any symptoms of the virus. We are still operating an emergency service for all our registered patients, but again you will be screened for suspected virus symptoms as we have been informed to not provide this service to anyone who is displaying symptoms or who has a family member displaying the symptoms. We will be answering our telephones during our normal working hours so if you would like to cancel an appointment/access our emergency service or just to discuss the present situation, please don't hesitate to give us a call.

Good morning all. Ok, we have another update for you all. At the moment we have been advised to offer a very limited service due to the recent update received yesterday and have decided to take the following course of action to keep our staff and patients safe and well. The decision is to not provide any service which is treated by aerosol producing equipment (ultrasonic/high speed drill). Therefore we are not able to carry out any fillings/crown preparations. etc. or scaling.... We are still able to see our patients for their routine exam appointments if you wish to have these carried out but Claire (our hygienist) will be performing hand scales only. We know that this will be very disrupting for a lot of our patients as treatment appointments are booked so far in advance, but hope you will appreciate our safety measures. We would also like to reassure you all that we will still be operating an emergency service, so that if anyone does develop problems which require them to see us during these difficult times, you will still be able to access this. We will continue to post updates on our page and will be here to answer our telephone.during our normal working hours. See more

Good afternoon all. Following on from our recent post about Corona virus, we would like to inform all our patients that we are currently following the Governments changing guidelines which are listed below in order to keep our staff and patients safe and well. We have placed hand sanitising gel at the reception desk and encourage all our patients to use this upon entering and leaving the practice. We have unfortunately had to remove all our reading material and any leaflets w...e have had on display to help with the containment of the virus. If you have traveled abroad in the last 14 days or been in close contact with someone with confirmed corona-virus please check the Governments website gov.uk for the latest COVID-19 travel advice. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms e.g: high temperature and/or a new continuous cough you may need to call NHS 111 for further advise before making or attending your appointment. We would strongly recommend to all our patients over 70 years of age, patients with underlying health issues or expectant mothers to consider rearranging their appointment in light of the recommendations. Please contact our receptionists to discuss this. We appreciate your co-operation at this time and will update our page with any developments as soon as we get them.
