Waterside Dental Practice Remains Open- National Lockdown Announcement 31st October 2020 On Saturday evening Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a second national lockdown due to the rising number of cases of Covid-19. Waterside Dental Practice will still be open. There are no restrictions with regards to medical / dental treatment and you are actively encouraged to keep your appointments. At Waterside Dental Practice we have all the necessary Personal Protective Equipment... (PPE) and will continue to follow our high standards in cross infection control. What next? Please continue to attend your appointments. We have excellent infection control procedures along with a robust triaging policy to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. If you are worried about your attendance please contact us to discuss your concerns and we can always postpone your treatment till a later date. We continue to recommend that patients in the high-risk category delay non-essential treatment until further guidance has been given by the relevant authorities. When you arrive: We advise that you wear a mask at all times while inside the dental practice and only remove your mask at the request of the dental professional. We will continue to check your temperature and if this is above 37.8C, you will be advised to rebook your treatment and to follow government guidelines. Please do not arrive more than 5 minutes early for an appointment due to social distancing guidelines. As you enter the building you will need to use the alcohol disinfectant rub to disinfectant your hands. The treatment rooms will be prepared prior to your appointment with all surfaces disinfected after each patient. The air purification/exchange units will continue to be used throughout the day in each surgery. We have sourced PPE and unlike the start of the Pandemic (March 2020 in the UK), there is no shortage. Please do not be concerned as we continue to maintain high standards of cross infection control. Stay safe and please contact us if you have any questions. Kind regards Nikos and Waterside Dental Team

An interesting article from BBC this morning reflecting some of the current challenges we are facing towards re-opening our practice.

Important Covid19 Update Monday 1st June 2020 On Thursday 28th May 2020 the Chief Dental Officer announced the exciting news that dental practices across England will be allowed to begin the process of reopening for face to face appointments from Monday 8th June 2020. Despite the good news, this was only brought to our attention at the same time as it was announced to the public. The announcement has been the one that we have been waiting for, however with only 10 days to pre...pare, this may mean our practice does not open on this exact date. As a practice, we are committed to ensuring the safety of our patients and colleagues. The team have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to create a safe environment for our patient’s return. We are currently undertaking training in the new standards of working, with new policies and protocols to set out within our practice. We are only going to open with the correct PPE. This is the PPE that hospitals need so as you can imagine everywhere is ‘out of stock’. We are prioritising patients that have had an emergency and then we are working our way through the long list of patients that we had to cancel due to the lock down. Please bear with us while we will be doing our best to become ready to welcome you all back. Each and every one of our patients is important to us but we are not going to be able to see you all at once. In the meanwhile we are always available for emergency telephone advice, if you have any dental problem. Please call us during normal hours on 02380 843318 or out of hours on our emergency number 07395909876 where you can speak to our principal dentist Nikos. You can also send us an email: [email protected] or [email protected] Alternatively, you can send us a message on our Facebook page, and we will come back to you. We will continue to update you on practice website www.watersidedental.co.uk and Facebook Waterside Dental Practice as well as by email. Take Care and keep safe, we will see you soon The Waterside Dental Team

COVID 19 ...update Wednesday 13th of May 2020 After almost two months that our dental practice has been closed, we would like to update you regarding when we are expecting to open again. Although last Sunday evening the Prime Minister encouraged professions that cannot work from home to return to their workplace, this does not apply to the dental practitioners. All dental guidance and the Standard Operating Procedures currently in force remain unchanged. That means no face to... face contact, and provision of remote urgent dental care with advice, analgesics or/and antibiotics as necessary through a telephone triage. We hope that there will be changes in the guidance that they will soon allow us to operate again and be able to see our patients. In the meanwhile, if you have any dental problem please call us at our emergency number 07395909876 where you can speak to our principal dentist Nikos. You can also send us an email: [email protected] or [email protected] Alternatively, you can send us a message on our Facebook page, and we will come back to you. We have tried to contact as many of our patients as possible to see how they are doing, and we will continue to do so in the upcoming weeks. We are immensely proud to have such a good relationship with our patients and incredibly grateful for their understanding and support. We have a brilliant and very caring team here in Waterside and we are determined to provide the best and safest possible service once we are open again. FROM ALL THE TEAM AT WATERSIDE, STAY SAFE AND WELL.HOPEFULLY, WE WILL SEE YOU SOON

COVID 19 ...update Monday 23rd March 2020 We have another more drastic update that will now significantly affect our day to day operation as a dental practice This update will affect all dental practices across the whole of the UK, and unites the advice given by all chief dental officers and the British dental association. This advice applies to both NHS and Private dental practices. To help limit the spread of the COVID 19 virus all dental practices with the exception of the... specialist Centres that have custom suits and appropriate breathing apparatus will be drastically changing how they operate If you have a routine examination or on-going appointment please do not attend the practice as we will be unable to see you until the government deems it safe to work normally again. The practice will now be operating a telephone triage service (much like the doctors’ surgeries) with emergency patients speaking to one of our dentists to assess and advise you and how best to deal with your emergency. PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE GIVEN US YOUR MOST UPTO DATE PHONE NUMBER AND EMAIL ADDRESS We anticipate the majority of emergency patients will now be requested to contact NHS 111 for further assistance and an appointment at one of the more specialist access Centers Waterside Dental Practice is committed to looking after its patients and staff and we are taking these drastic measures now to help limit social contacts and to try and reduce the spread of the COVID19 virus. If not, correctly managed dental practices have the potential like many other public gathering places to be hotspots for infection We understand this is going to be difficult time for many but hope you will understand how important it is that we do the right thing now and take immediate and drastic actions to protect us all. We have been operating as a dental practice since the 1960’s and this is the first time in our recorded history that we have had to close our doors and drastically limit our service. Thank you for your understanding and co operation Please be sure to follow us for our latest COVID19 updates and service status updates See more

Due to the ongoing developments of the Coronavirus (Covid19) At Waterside Dental Practice, as always, the health and safety of our patients and team members is paramount. For this reason, we have put in place extra cleaning protocols within the practice: Our sterilisation protocol always follows the strictest criteria to ensure adequate disinfection and sterilisation according to HTM01-05 standards. We always use the rubber dam isolation for all our dental procedures (ex...cept for extractions and scale/polish). This is scientifically proven to ensure at least 90% reduction in the spread of microorganisms during the dental procedures. During this period, we will use hand scaling during our hygiene appointments to prevent aerosol spreading of microorganisms with the use of ultrasonics. We follow closely the latest government and NHS guidelines and we recommend the following: - Please do not come to the Practice if you are unwell, have a new persist cough or temperature of 37.8C or higher or have been in close contact with someone with a confirmed case of coronavirus. - Keep your hands clean, wash regularly and thoroughly, for at least 20 seconds with soap and water - Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch all coughs and sneezes and then bin the tissue then wash your hands with soap and water or use a sanitiser. While you are in the practice. Together with handwashing, we encourage you to use the hand sanitiser which you will find available in the practice. - We ask anyone who is concerned that they may have encountered the virus to follow the government advice, and self-isolate in the first instance. The latest Government advice is available here: https://www.gov.uk//coronavirus-covid-19-information-for-t If you’re unsure whether to attend the practice just give us a call on 02380 843318 and we will be to discuss and reschedule your appointment if necessary. Many thanks THE WATERSIDE TEAM
